Just One Day

More About J.O.D Just One Day was conceived as an outdoor adventure company to take soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardsmen for a one-day fishing trip to nearby lakes, streams and ponds on public and private land. The idea was created to provide the men and women from Wounded Transition Units (WTU) with an opportunity to get away from their base, post or station, and enjoy a day away from the military hospitals and just relax in the great outdoors. The concept was to give our disabled heroes some free time to simply enjoy nature and experience a break in their medical recovery program routine, and to help them with their physical and mental rehabilitation. The success JOD has experienced is very gratifying, and reports have come back to JOD from supervisory military personnel that the break in routine and the outdoor activity has had a very positive effect on all of those who have attended these outings. The success the program has had is extremely encouraging and has prompted JOD to expand its services to our military personnel in several ways. JOD conducts trips on open water lakes and streams, as well as ice fishing, on numerous Rocky Mountain Lakes, reservoirs and ponds. Through corporate sponsorships and individual donations, these trips are provided at no cost to our injured heroes. The JOD staff now conducts fishing clinics for bait-casting, spinning and fly-fishing techniques to ensure that the troops are well-versed in whatever style of fishing they wish to experience. Our staff also assists any individual who wishes help and guides them by teaching special techniques for the particular species of fish they wish to catch. However, if any individual wishes to enjoy his or her time in solitude, we of course respect that wish and simply oversee their safety from a distance. As a non-profit organization, JOD has arranged several fund raising activities through local businesses to help support our continued services to the WTU military personnel. On several occasions, JOD has donated fishing rods and reels, ball caps and T-shirts with slogans and logos commemorating the outings to the participants. Additionally, JOD is planning to video several portions of each outing and produce DVDs which will then be given to each participant, at no cost to them. The men and women of our armed forces who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom are special people and should be thanked and acknowledged whenever and however possible. Just One Day will continue to support our troops in any manner we can and we hope you who read this will help also. JOD is also creating a special division that focuses on providing soldiers with skills that they can use now, and especially when they transition back into civilian life, to enable them to become a productive and contributing member of society and to help them support themselves and their families. We at JOD feel that this effort is paramount to what we believe is our privilege and duty to, in some small way, say “Thank You for what you have done and the sacrifices you have made in the name of Freedom”.
